Cellulose insulation- green choice!
Cellulose insulation is one of the best choices for a green insulation, since it is made of 85% recycled paper ( from used newspapers, cardboards or office papers), the rest of 15 % is borates . Borates is class I fire retardant, protect against the insects and vermins.
Thermal performance is 40mW/m K, with a R-value of 3.8 per inch, better then fiberglass.
Cellulose completely fiils the cavities, and being three times denser than fiberglass, is a wonderful noise reductor. Cellulose act to distibute the moisture through the cavities, helping to dry the moisture more quickly. that i why it is recommended in more cities from the sea sides.
The procedure is simple: the pellets of cellulose- we use Thermofloc- are blown into attics or walls through holes drillen to permit access and fill the cavities.
